A recent article in the health care industry publication Becker’s Hospital Review described Carey research that showed doctors spend more time with patients when appointments are kept on schedule and less when they are running behind. The study co-authored by Assistant Professor Chester Chambers and Professor Maqbool Dada was published last October in BMJ Open. “Te take-home message is that one way to ease the trade-of between wait time and face time is to reduce uncertainty in the overall system,” Chambers told Becker’s.
