Hynninen Arrives to Guide Carey’s Global Marketing

Kiera Hynninen joined the Carey Business School in January as the new associate dean for global marketing and communications.

She has more than 25 years of experience in traditional and digital marketing, strategy, branding, acquisition and retention initiatives, partnerships, creative, research, and communications. Among the world-famous brands she has helped to promote are the National Geographic Channel, the Weather Channel, Holiday Inn, and Kraft Foods.

Most recently, Hynninen served as chief marketing officer at Redbox movie and game DVD rentals. Under her leadership, the company’s consumer engagement across all digital marketing touchpoints grew by double digits.

Previously, she served as executive vice president of marketing for National Geographic Channels, where marketing strategies led to more than triple-digit growth in viewership and revenue.

Hynninen holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor of science in finance and marketing from the University of Richmond Robins School of Business.
