susandNancy Brinker (right), founder and chair of global strategy of the Susan G. Komen breast cancer awareness organization, makes a point during her “In Person at Carey” presentation in September at the Harbor East campus. Professor and Vice Dean for Faculty and Research Valerie Suslow (left) moderated the event. Brinker founded the organization in 1982 after having promised her sister Susan Komen, who died of breast cancer in 1980, that she would take up the fight against the disease. Brinker’s remarks to an audience of about 80 members of the Carey community touched on aspects of cause-related marketing. The “In Person” series aims to bring speakers to the school whose experiences resonate with Carey’s mission of “business with humanity in mind.” Video of the event can be viewed on the Carey YouTube channel, at http://youtube.com/user/JHUCareyBusiness/videos.
